35 years of PhD success

In 2024 we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the PhD Programme at INSEAD. Looking back over three decades of phenomenal success, the launch of the programme was clearly one of the wisest investments the school has ever made. Today, there are over 270 ambassadors for INSEAD’s values across five continents. Our PhD alumni are now management professors at the world’s most respected institutions, holding increasingly senior posts with every passing year. And the vibrant academic community that has built up around the PhD Programme is one of the reasons why INSEAD is now ranked among the very best business schools.

Our doctoral programme is still small and high achieving, and continues to – uniquely – span two continents. It has evolved alongside INSEAD itself but remains a powerful testament to our founding belief that true academic excellence is achieved through diversity of thought and cultural perspectives. We are particularly proud of the fact that our current students reflect INSEAD’s strategic commitments to achieving greater gender balance and carrying out research that helps to make business “a force for good”.

This programme is so important for our school – and close to my heart. Every year I try to come and tell the latest recipients how important it is for the INSEAD Board, the Foundation and myself as an alumnus to see a new group of young teachers going throughout the world to spread the message that Business is a force for good.
