What we’re looking for

The Organisational Behaviour area seeks candidates who are intellectually curious and would like to pursue careers in the research and teaching of organisational behaviour phenomena. As the area draws on a broad range of disciplines, the Organisational Behaviour area values backgrounds in social sciences, psychology, sociology and economics. A strong background in statistics and research methodology is also important, and having some research experience is helpful. Those who do not have a background in the social sciences will be provided with a foundation in core areas. Others can build on previous work to create a programme of study that reflects their experience.

PhD students currently come from backgrounds in decision sciences, philosophy and political sciences, applied development and educational psychology, economics and quantitative economics, psychology and social-organisational psychology, sociology, business and theatre, finance, and – of course – business. We have students who have come direct from undergraduate degrees, with little or no work experience, and some with masters. Many come with a little research experience, although it is not a must when applying.
