Finance is the academic study of how the financial system operates within an economy—focusing on the flow of capital from suppliers to end users and the allocation of risk among investors
Finance as a discipline spans three broad areas: investments, corporate finance, and financial markets and institutions. INSEAD’s Finance area is widely recognized as a global leader, supported by a diverse and accomplished faculty.
Students benefit from close mentorship and a collaborative research environment, enriched by INSEAD’s strong foundation in management and its deep commitment to intellectual diversity.
The Finance area at INSEAD seeks students with strong academic backgrounds in economics, mathematics, statistics, finance, or similar rigorous fields, and a clear drive for research.
While prior experience in finance can be beneficial, it is not required. Current students come from diverse fields—industrial engineering, computer science, economics, finance, accounting, financial engineering, and more—holding either bachelor’s or master’s degrees.
